Click here for more about Stonehills Farmhouse

Stonehills Farmhouse (Totnes) sleeps a maximum of 8 people. An absolute must-have holiday for those larger families of all ages wanting a real experience of living on a farm. This traditional spacious farmhouse is set right in the heart of a working farm with 190 acres of land with sheep and cattle grazing in the fields surrounding the farmhouse. There is an opportunity, depending on the season, to join in on this farm and feed the lambs, collect the eggs, watch the sheep shearing, pick fruit and vegetables and identify nature all around. The farmhouse is supplied with its own private spring water. Previous visitors have thoroughly enjoyed the farm life and country living - and many an evening picnic has been had sitting on top of the hill overlooking the farmhouse. This is a delightful house for families of all ages, at any time of year. It is spacious and well-equipped with a large living room made cosy by the wood burner and a traditional large kitchen complete with large table for everyone to sit around and talk together. The conservatory is another delightful room with views across the fields. There is a four-poster bed in one of the bedrooms, which opens out into an outside sitting area. The farm itself is near Totnes, midway between the wild open spaces of Dartmoor and the lovely South Devon coastline scattered with hidden coves and sandy beaches. A walk across the fields leads to the local shop which stocks a huge range of locally produced foods, and there is a public house and post office in the same village. There really is a little bit of everything in this area - always somewhere to go or something to do. A day on the beach can be spent at Slapton or Beesands, or visits made to the maritime town of Dartmouth. Totnes is a vibrant, fun town, especially on a Friday when it is market day. A drive up on to Dartmoor reveals rugged windswept moorland with high tors and low valleys, where ponies run free. Salcombe makes for a good day out, watching the yachts sailing in and out of the estuary, whilst further afield are the larger cities of Exeter and Plymouth (which has a spectacular waterfront and is steeped in history). Shop 1 mile.

Awards have been won for the conversion of buildings and the conservation of the area. With so much to do, many holidaymakers return year after year.

South Devon awaits you
Tuckenhay is only a 20-minute drive from the superb Blue Flag beach at Blackpool Sands and about 30 minutes from a surfing beach at Bantham, as well as some of the best natural beaches to be found anywhere in the UK.
There is also extensive access to the coastal footpath for walking and the wilderness that is Dartmoor for walking, climbing and riding.
This is a mecca for ramblers, bird-watchers, swimmers, surfers, horse riders, golfers and those interested in fishing, boating, sailing and windsurfing.
In addition, there are many historic (National Trust) houses to visit including Agatha Christies's Greenway as well as a local vineyard (with award-winning wines) at Sharpham.
Tuckenhay is only 5 miles inland from Dartmouth and 3 from the market town of Totnes. Village shop 3½ miles. Riverside inn and restaurant within walking distance.

A superb choice of cottages
Each of the cottages has been individually styled to offer comfortable and spacious accommodation. Great care has been taken to retain the feel of the original buildings and extensive use has been made of traditional materials. Most have garden, terrace or patio. Individual cottage details are shown on the following pages.
Many cottages have more than one bathroom and some have an en-suite bathroom to every bedroom. Kitchens are comprehensively equipped: most have dishwashers and all have microwave cookers.
Couples and honeymooners will feel snug and comfortable in the small cottages: Mill Leat, Mill Stream and Mill Spring. Families can spread out in Papermaker's or Turbine Cottages, while Mill Lodge, Edgecombe Barn and Tuckenhay Mill House will sleep larger parties in comfort. Of course, combinations of cottages can accommodate bigger gatherings of family or friends.

Click here for more about 4 Ramparts Walk

4 Ramparts Walk (Totnes) sleeps a maximum of 4 people. Tucked away in the winding streets that make up the ancient quarter of Totnes and in the shadow of the church, is this truly delightful and tastefully furnished cottage. Built into the original Saxon fortifications that surround Totnes castle, 4 Ramparts Walk has its origins in the Norman period, becoming a house during the late 17th century. This hideaway has a spacious lounge with a woodburner set in a stone fireplace, providing a cosy and relaxing environment in either winter or summer. A door from the lounge opens onto a secluded sunny walled garden, with brick paving, a host of pots adding splashes of colour and a wisteria climbing up the steps to the garden entrance. Two bedrooms accommodate up to 4 guests, with the master bedroom having wonderful views over the town. Totnes itself is an eclectic mixture of bohemian exuberance and traditional Devon market town, even possessing its own currency and it is easy to lose oneself for hours by meandering through the narrow streets. Each turn reveals another pleasant surprise, be it a traditional inn, a diverse range of restaurants or another small shop specialising in the unusual. We think that this is an ideal romantic retreat for couples or a comfortable base for a small family wishing to explore the delights and sandy beaches of this lovely area of Devon and we recommend it very highly.

Click here for more about The Linhay

The Linhay (Totnes) sleeps a maximum of 2 people.

Set in a small valley in the heart of the South Hams, The Linhay at Lukesland offers a chance to escape into the real Devon countryside. The property is set in an officially designated area of outstanding natural beauty and surrounded by farmland. Lukesland is itself a registered holding whose 15 acres of grassland are quietly mown by grazing sheep and a small, but prolific, flock of chickens - laying fresh eggs for breakfast!

The Linhay is a newly converted, single storey barn used in the past for milking and stables. The Linhay is attached to the owners house but has its own, separate entrance from the courtyard, allowing easy access by car for unloading luggage. The spacious 40? x 13? room has a king size double bed, underfloor heating, and a comfortable sitting room area with a kitchenette situated on the mezzanine floor.

Outside there is a gravelled barbecue area for the exclusive use of guests and a secluded garden, sunny all day, with a bench strategically positioned to get the last rays of the setting sun. Guests are welcome to roam the fields, as are well behaved, leash-bound dogs.

There are walks accessible direct from the property but for the serious rambler Dartmoor is just 15 minutes to the North and access to the South West Coastal path is 20 minutes south. Surfers will find reasonable sport close by at Bantham and sailors will delight in the facilities at Dartmouth and Salcombe. There are a number of golf courses in the area and Plymouth and Exeter offer film, theatre and other entertainments. The South Hams is an especially good base for the food lover; the area is blessed with very good restaurants and some famous chefs.
