Click here for more about Windfalls

Windfalls (East Portlemouth) sleeps a maximum of 4 people. Set in six acres in a beautiful sheltered valley this ancient farmstead is now a small group of charming cottages that hug the side of a gentle slope that rambles down to the beautiful tidal creek of Goodshelter. Here you can wander through the apple orchard to the 800 ft private foreshore, row one of the dinghies provided round to South Pool to the pub (tides permitting!), barbecue by the old lime kiln on the foreshore and revel in the views of this dreamy stretch of water. The tiny hamlet of Goodshelter is on the edge of the Kingsbridge/ Salcombe estuary just a mile from East Portlemouth, the lovely beaches of Millbay and Sunny Cove and from there, a ferry ride to the popular town of Salcombe. The cottages are alongside a courtyard shared with the owner’s home, overlook an orchard that slopes down to the Creek and provide very comfortable, well furnished and flexible accommodation. Apple Tree Cottage is welcoming, bright with vibrant colours and enjoys its own pretty garden. Windfalls is an ideal spot for two and with its level access is also suitable for disabled and wheelchair users. Between the two cottages and attached to Windfalls, although entirely separate, is what in family parlance has become known as The Love Shack! This little nest can be let with either of the other cottages but not on its own. This delightful set of cottages can be a haven for couples, a great spot for families or indeed a wonderful place for a large family celebration, all in the most idyllic position. There is a shared laundry room accessed from the courtyard with chest freezer, washing machine, tumble dryer and ironing board. The gravelled courtyard in front of the cottages is enclosed with a five bar gate and provides ample parking. From here a pathway leads through the orchard to the creek. Two dinghies with oars provided for use at own risk. A Wayfarer sailing dinghy is also available, by arrangement with the owner.

Click here for more about High House Farm

High House Farm (East Portlemouth) sleeps a maximum of 12 people. A few years ago, the remains of a mysterious ship were discovered just off Salcombe in Devon, along with a huge hoard of treasure. This treasure links the ship to a time, 400 years ago, when pirates from North Africa’s Barbary Coast were making daring raids and people were taken from villages all along the south coast of Britain - to be sold into slavery. And so the story goes that the courtyard walls of High House Farm were built as a defence against these piratical raids! A peaceful spot now, this most interesting and unusual 17th century detachedhouse, is steeped in history within its ancient walls and much of the original character has been retained. Beautiful and rare early 19th century ship wall drawings were discovered during the renovations, one has been carefully preserved and is a treat to discover when renting this most attractive, spacious farmhouse that has been modernised and refurbished to a high standard. 1 mile from East Portlemouth, a ferry ride across the estuary to Salcombe, High House Farm is well placed to enjoy this glorious area of the South Hams, with its breathtaking footpath views, sandy coves and the proximity to the lovely beaches of Gara Rock, Millbay, Sunny Cove and the popular sailing mecca of Salcombe. A short walk away is the newly opened Gara Rock Restaurant for ice creams, drinks, breakfast, lunch, tea or evening meal, with stunning panoramic views over the coastline and beach. A must for large family groups, the house has a games room and a meadow with a Shepherd’s hut where you can enjoy refreshment and shade whilst taking in the vista. There is a barbecue, picnic table and viewing mound to enjoy a glass of wine and watch the sun go down over the sea. Just a moment - is it a mirage, or do I spy a skull and cross bones sail on the horizon....?! The house provides flexible accommodation and can be offered as a whole for large groups, or two separate cottages in low and mid season. (Interconnecting fire and sound proof doors will be unlocked for whole house bookings.)
