The cottage boasts lots of character and quirkiness, complimented by the owners flair and style. It has an enclosed, south-facing courtyard with garden furniture - a sun trap in the summer months. The living room has lots of beams and an inglenook ’living flame’ stove, and is decorated with warm colours. There are pretty views of the town and hills from the landing and the double bedroom. Buckfastleigh is a pleasant, little old town, with pubs, cafés, shops and a weekly farmers’ market, and is situated beside the River Dart and Buckfast Abbey. Also in the town, there is an outdoor swimming pool. Hop onto a train at the South Devon railway, or visit the butterfly and otter sanctuary which is close by. This little hideaway cottage is perfect for couples or for those with children seeking a quiet escape. It is 4 miles to Holne and 6 miles to Totnes, an attractive old town with summer boat trips to Dartmouth. An ideal base for visiting Dartmoor and the coast. Sat on the edge of Dartmoor, this 150 year old barn conversion is attached to the owner’s home and is an ideal base for families, walkers, foodies, beach addicts and adventurers. With easy access to the A38, this cottage is perfect for day trips out exploring Dartmoor and the South Hams. Set in a very peaceful location, the property has been decorated and furnished to a very high standard. Ashburton has plenty of independent shops to wander around including antiques, award-winning delis, pubs and fantastic restaurants. There are also events on throughout the year so it is worth checking what is on before you come. There is much to do locally with Buckfast Abbey 4 miles away and Totnes and Dartington Hall only 8 miles away. The Southwest Coast path is 14 miles away along with local beaches. Both Exeter with its stunning cathedral and Plymouth, with the National Marine Aquarium and Barbican are within easy driving distance, 25 miles. There are many activities available locally, including canoeing on the River Dart, high ropes, carriage driving courses, fishing, walking and the unusual activity of letter boxing. There are many exciting spots for bird watchers, and look out for deer and Dartmoor ponies close to the property. The extensive coastline of the southwest peninsula offers endless opportunities to enjoy watersports, surfing or just a day at the seaside. There is plenty to do locally for children and the young at heart, including the otter and butterfly sanctuary 1 mile, River Dart Country Park 1 mile, the rare breed petting farm 8 miles, Pennywell Farm 3 miles and Woodlands theme park 12 miles, Dartmoor Zoo, made famous by the film ’We bought a Zoo’, 20 miles to name but a few. The busy market town of Newton Abbot is close by and a visit to Widecombe-in-the-Moor is a must. There are many National Trust properties within driving distance. The A38 is just 8 miles, and the cathedral city of Exeter and Plymouth are 30 minutes’ drive. Snooty Fox is an ideal base for exploring Dartmoor, Devon and Cornwall. Visit Bigbury-on-Sea, 16 miles, Slapton Sands and Torcross, 22 miles, Dawlish, 15 miles with beach and nature reserve, or Torquay which is within easy reach. A visit to Burgh Island is a must.
